Delta Classroom Canines™ Program
The Delta Therapy Dogs program traditionally involves a volunteer and their Delta accredited dog visiting sick children, frail aged and disabled residents in supported care.
A new national program called theDelta Classroom Canines™ Program launched in July 2011 – dogs visiting primary schools.
Delta Society accredited dog trainers use best practice and scientifically proven reward based techniques to help Australians enjoy fulfilled and enriched lives with their dogs. Become a trainer.
Delta Dog Safe™ teaches positive, proactive ways to reduce the incidence of dog bites in children. The program teaches pre and primary school children (and their parents) about safe and sensible behaviour around dogs, including how to read dogs’ body language.
Companion animals bring joy to the lives of more than twelve million Australians. Now there is evidence that they are also literally good for your health and well being. The beneficial effects range across the full human life span – enhanced social skills in childhood; reduction and better management of hypertension, heart attacks and strokes; improved mental health and well-being in the frail aged.
